Professional Division
Eligibility: Open to all professional players in Singapore.
Note that you are not allowed to enter the Pro-Amateur division or the Junior division when you enter this division. You are still allowed to participate in the other featured divisions on a
invitational or first come first served basis.

Qualifiers
There will a 1-minute preliminary freestyle to qualify the top players into the freestyle finals. The top qualifying players in each division will be advanced to the 3-minute Freestyle Final. Each competitor will have 1-minute on stage to perform a freestyle in the style of play in the division they have entered. Players may enter more than one division.

The number of Finalist for each division are as follows:
1A: 10 - finalists (7) + Seeded (3)
2A: 6 - finalists (5) + Seeded (1)
4A: 8 finalists (6) + Seeded (2)
5A: 7 finalists (6) + Seeded (1)

Players who will be competing in the preliminary freestyle of any championship division mustbe prepared with an appropriate music CD if they wish to use their own music. This CD must meet all of the requirements just as shown in the Performance/Freestyle Rules. There will be no required elements for the preliminary freestyles. Scoring will be based entirely on the technical execution of the tricks performed by the player. Judging criteria for the preliminary
freestyles will be the same as the technical execution portion of the finals freestyles.
Note: There is no performance points/score in the qualifying segment of the competition.

General Freesyle Rules:
• Each contestant shall have 3-minutes to perform a freestyle routine.
• The 3-minute time period starts when the music starts.
• No points shall be scored for either Technical Execution or Performance Style for any
reason before the music starts, or after the 3-minutes have elapsed.
• Music must be provided to the sound-technician before the start of the event.
• All music must be considered G-rated (appropriate for all audiences).The music shall not contain offensive lyrics including but not limited to: obscenities, ethnic or sexual slurs,
violence advocacy, etc. With the concurrence of the Contest Director and the Head Judge, use of inappropriate music by a contestant shall result in their disqualification.
• All actions of a performer must be G-rated and take into account the safety of the audience,
facility, and the contestant himself. With the concurrence of the Contest Director and the Head Judge, dangerous or inappropriate behavior by a contestant shall result in their disqualification.
• No assistants are allowed on stage while a contestant is performing.
• All extra yo-yos that are to be used by a contestant shall be ready to use and must be brought on stage.
• Yo-yos that leave the stage during a freestyle shall not be returned to the stage and no others shall be accepted by the contestant from the audience or an assistant. If a contestant uses a yo-yo in violation of this rule, the judges will not award any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style while that yo-yo is in play, but shall deduct points for any mistakes, loss of control restarts, yo-yo replacements, etc...
• No props are allowed without the prior approval of the Contest Director and the Head Judge.
Hats are the only pre-approved prop.
• Yo-Yos with Hub Stacks (hub bearings) and similar spinning pog devices are allowed.

*You may also choose to store your music in a thumb drive and transfer your music to the
Sound man before the event begins.

Specific Rules for “1A” Freestyles:
• At no time shall there be more than one yo-yo in play (including slave or prop yo-yos) at the same time. During any periods of time that this rule is violated, the judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style but shall deduct points for any mistakes, loss of control restarts, yo-yo replacements, etc.
• At no time shall the yo-yo be removed from the string (i.e. no off-string tricks are allowed). During any periods of time that this rule is violated, the judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style but shall deduct points for any mistakes, loss of control restarts, yo-yo replacements, etc.
• At no time shall a yo-yo with a counter-weight be used. During any periods of time that this rule is violated, the judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style but shall deduct points for any mistakes, loss of control restarts, yo-yo replacements, etc.
• Mobius style is allowed.
• Skyrocket type tricks are allowed.
• Typical scoring elements include but are not limited to: mounts, dismounts, string hits, hops, grinds, lacerations, release catches (like suicides/Iron Whips), slack catches, re-generations and binds.

Specific Rules for “2A” Freestyles:
• The judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style unless
both yo-yos are in play simultaneously.
• At no time shall there be more than two yo-yos in play (including slave or prop yo-yos) at the same time. During any periods of time that this rule is violated, the judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style but shall deduct points for any mistakes, loss of control restarts, yo-yo replacements, etc.
• Typical scoring elements include but are not limited to: loops, punches, wraps, tanglers, moons, hops, stalls, worlds, transitions, re-generations and various combinations and/or variations of these elements.
• 3A styled tricks will be allowed for this division.

Specific Rules for “4A” Freestyles:
• Any number of “off-string” yo-yos may be in play at the same time.
• Typical scoring elements include but are not limited to: 1A type string tricks
• Typical scoring elements include but are not limited to: launches, tosses, catches, regenerations, grinds, intentional bounces off body parts or the stage back to a catch, boingys
or other types of bounces between strings.
• Trick elements “performed with a pinched string” or those that are at “less risk” may be
scored at a lower value than elements where the yo-yo is launched off the string.
• Similarly, trick elements where the yo-yo is rolling along the string may be scored at a lower value than elements where the yo-yo is launched off the string.

Specific Rules for “5A” Freestyles:
• The judges shall not grant any points for Technical Execution or Performance Style unless the counter-weight (or multiple counter-weights) is in play, or in the act of being moved from hand to hand. Any trick done while the counterweight is being held for the entire duration of the trick shall be considered 1A trick, and shall not be scored.
• Any number of “counter-weight” yo-yos may be in play at the same time.
• Typical scoring elements include but are not limited to: 1A type string tricks with counter-weight in play, aerial releases and catches, grinds, etc.

Pro - Amateur Division
Eligibility: If you have yet to place top 3 in EST or the finals in WCC 08 professional division, you are eligible to enter this division. If you have won a Championship in any of the professional divisions in the past SYYC events, you are not allowed to enter this division.
Please be advised that this is strictly for “Pro-amateurs” only and the YYAS committee has the right to reassign you to the Professional Division should we feel that you possess the competitive strengths for it. This decision will be in the best interest of the leveled competitive field of this division.

Note that you are not allowed to enter the professional division or the Junior division when you enter this division. You are still allowed to participate in the other featured divisions on a
invitational or first come first served basis.

The Qualifiers
• Competitors will be required to perform all the Basic, Super Level Tricks

Super Level
1. UFO
2. The Eiffel Tower
3. Dog Bite
4. Three-Leaf Clover
5. Loop the Loop (10 Times)
6. Brain Twister
7. Man on the Flying Trapeze
8. Stop & Go/Restart
9. Homerun
10. Loop the Loop (30 Times)

• A successful first attempt will be awarded with 5 points.
• While a successful completion on the 2nd attempt will be 3 points.
• Failing to do so will result in the retirement of the player’s qualifying run.
• Tricks are to be done within the assigned trick box.
• You are not allowed to practice tricks outside of the trick box.
• Tricks allowed outside of trick box are Gravity pull, Sleeper and forward Pass.
• You are only allowed to tune your yo-yo outside the trick box.
• Each player is given a maximum of 10 mins to complete the 20 tricks.
• You are advised to complete the tricks as fast as possible.
• Await for the judge’s “thumbs-up” before proceeding to the next trick.
• The faster timings for completion of tricks will be considered for tie-breakers.
• No Binds are allowed for this division.
• You are allowed to bring spare yo-yos on stage.
• Judges Decision is final.
Top 6 scorers will advance to the elimination rounds (day 2).

The Semi-Finals
Top 6 players will be required to perform a 2 min freestyle each.

- This freestyle will only include technical point scoring.
- Top 3 goes to the finals.
- Finalists are allowed to play any of the divisions of their choice (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A)
Finals
• Finalists are to perform a 3 minute routine.
• Freestyles will be assessed on both technical & performance scores.

Junior Division
Eligibility: This division is strictly for players below 13 years of age who only possess the basic skills in yo-yoing. Please be advised that this is strictly for “Junior” players only and the YYAS committee has the right to reassign you to the Pro-Amateur Division should we feel that you possess the competitive strengths for it. This decision will be in the best interest of the leveled competitive field of this division.

Note that you are not allowed to enter the professional division or the Pro-Amateur division when you enter this division. You are still allowed to participate in the other featured divisions on a invitational or first come first served basis.

Top 3 scorers from will advance to the finals (day 2).
The Finals
• Competitors will be required to perform all the Basic Level Tricks in the fastest time.
• The the last to complete the list of tricks will be eliminated from the finals.
• The last two competitors will go on a head to head “Best Trick” Challenge.
• Tricks will be based on Creativity, Originality and Technicality
• Winner will be decided by the panel of judges.
• Judges Decision is Final.

Team Division
Eligibility: Teams should comprise of a maximum of 5 members per team whereby 2 is the
minimum. There will be a total of 5 slots allowed for the qualifiers of the Team Division. Of
which, 3 slots will be allocated to invited teams.

Featured theme: Save the World.
Bonus points would be given to themes who can perform a routine according to the theme.

These invited teams are:
- Team Freelance(Singapore)
- Team Spinworkx Extreme
- Duncan Crew Singapore

The remaining two allocated slots will be given to any team who wishes to enter. This will be based on a first come first served basis.

Qualifiers
• All teams will have to undergo a round of qualifiers on the first day of the event.
• Each team will be given a maximum of 5 mins to complete the performance.
• Only enrolled members are allowed on stage during the performance.
• Any excess members on stage will be deemed as a disqualification.
• Judging will be based on Entertainment Value, Team Coordination and Performances’
relevance to the provided theme.
• Teams are not allowed to use any additional member of the crowd during performances.
• Top 3 teams will advance into the finals on day 2.
• Top 3 teams will now have to perform and utilize a given prop to be announced during the end of day 1.

Finals
• Teams will now judged based on Entertainment Value, Team Coordination and Creativity to the usage of a given prop.
• Most Cheers from the crowd will be given additional bonus points in the final scoring.
• Bonus points can also be scored when a team member wins the BEAT IT! Throw Down.
• The team with the most points accumulated wins!

BEAT IT! Throw Down
Eligibility: This division is open to all competitors of SYYC 08. However, you are to join at least one other division to join this division. 10 out of the 16 slots will be allocated to special invitations to teams. The other 6 will be based on first come first served basis.

Special Invitation:
*Teams are allowed to pick any 3 members from their team to represent. The winner of this event will also win bonus points for his/her team in the Team Division*
TFL - 3 Invites
TSX - 3 Invites
DCS - 3 Invites

Top Scorer for Pro-Amateur Qualifiers - 1 Invite
- KO Style Format (16 > 8 > 4 > 2 > CHAMPION)
- A coin toss will decide on who goes first
- Each player will be given 30 seconds to complete a run.
- Emcee will indicate the count down for a session to start. (e.g. “3...2...1....go!”)
- Emcee will also indicate when it is the last 10 secs of the run.
- Participants are reminded to utilize the Dj’s scratching for their run.
- Only one throw allowed for each attempt
*for 2A: Unlimited reps, only one catch allowed
*re-generations are allowed
- Turn ends when given counts of beats played by DJ ends or a mess up in the tricks.
*mess up: string tangles or dead yoyos
- Amount of participants: 16
- Judges will be given score cards from 1 - 5 points. Points are given purely on how the performer impress the judges based on integration of tricks with the music played by the DJ.
- Player will have to turn around and not peek at the other player while he is having his attempt.
- Scores will be flashed by the judges at the end of each attempt
- Judges Decision if final
